New models, clear plan: Audi Board of Management optimistic about the future after a challenging first quarter

2024 will be a demanding year for the Audi Group. The challenging market environment and supply bottlenecks, especially for V6 and V8 engines, had a particularly negative impact on operating profit in the first quarter of the year. The company also has to manage numerous product ramp-ups. Revenue reached €13.7 billion in the first quarter of the year, while operating profit amounted to €466 million. The operating margin was 3.4 percent. In the first three months of the year, the Brand Group Progressive delivered 402,048 automobiles to customers – a decline of 4.7 percent. The demand for fully electric models, however, increased by 3 percent. Audi registered a significant increase of 13.7 percent in China, with 156,082 models delivered.

Audi Group: Solid development in the first nine months

The Audi Group is following up on a strong first half of the year and reports increased delivery figures after nine months: Between January and September, the Progressive brand group delivered around 1,405,000 Audi, Lamborghini, and Bentley vehicles – 16 percent more than in the same period last year. The increase was particularly strong in the USA and Europe. Revenue rose by 13 percent to €50.4 billion in the first nine months, while the operating profit was €4.6 billion. The operating margin was within the target corridor at 9.1 percent. Once again, the brand with the four rings demonstrated its strength in fully electric models with deliveries of more than 123,000 vehicles – an increase of 60 percent – demonstrating the success of the electrification strategy.

Audi Group: Good performance in the first half of the year despite major challenges

After a strong start to the year, the Audi Group continued its successful trajectory in the first half of 2023. Between January and June, the brand group progressive delivered a total of 919,548 Audi, Bentley, and Lamborghini vehicles. This corresponds to an increase of more than 15.3 percent compared with the previous-year period. The Group increased its deliveries, particularly in Europe and the USA. Revenue grew by 14.4 percent to €34.2 billion, with an operating profit of €3.4 billion. At 10.0 percent, the operating return on sales was within the target corridor of 9 to 11 percent. Audi once again delivered a strong performance with fully electric models: The increase of over 50 percent to 75,647 vehicle deliveries proves that the Four Rings is on the right track with its systematic electrification strategy.

High demand for electric models and strong sales growth: Audi starts off year with impressive performance

The Audi Group has started off 2023 with strong delivery figures in nearly all core regions. In the first quarter, the brand group delivered some 422,000 Audi, Bentley, and Lamborghini vehicles – around 8 percent more than in the same period last year. The improved supply situation for semiconductors allowed the company to better meet the high demand for Audi models, in Europe and the USA in particular. Revenue increased to €16.9 billion. The operating profit climbed to €1.8 billion, while the operating margin of 10.8 percent was at the upper end of the strategic target corridor. The 43 percent increase in deliveries of electric cars demonstrates that the brand group is on the right track. In the company’s ongoing electrification journey, Audi has picked up considerable speed: In the largest model offensive in Audi’s history, the brand has announced the launch of around 20 new models between late 2023 and late 2025, more than ten of which will be all-electric.

2022 fiscal year: Record operating profit for Audi

The Audi Group closed the 2022 fiscal year with a record result in a year when the company continued on its path toward becoming a leading provider of connected, fully electric premium mobility. Revenue rose 16.4 percent to a record €61.8 billion while operating profit climbed nearly 40 percent to an all-time high of €7.6 billion. The operating margin rose from last year’s 10.4 percent to 12.2 percent, and net cash flow reached €4.8 billion, the second-highest figure in the company’s history. Key drivers of this year’s strong financial performance included consistent crisis management in a year marked by overlapping global challenges, a good price position, and strong results from the Bentley, Lamborghini, and Ducati brands. 2022 also saw a sharp increase in the number of fully electric models delivered. In 2023, Audi will launch the largest product campaign in the company’s history, starting with the future Q6 e-tron model series. It will be the first electric model based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE).
